One full day

Challenge = DIFFICULT:
As the title suggest, this is a challenging tour for any client of average fitness level. Expect one to two days of 8 to 10 hours of hiking with a full backpack over technical trail aspects such as rock scrambling, slippery and steep terrain.

Excursion Highlight: Having lunch on the barren knife-edge ridge at 12,000ft as the angry volcano churns, rumbles, and coughs shaking the ground you stand on. A humbling and exhilarating experience!

Includes: Professional guide, transport, lunch and a magnificent - diverse hike.

Trip Description:
Your day starts early as you cross through farmland, venture into cloud-forest, and finally meander through high alpine meadows washed with purple Indian paintbrush and red snap-dragons. This high elevation technical trail takes you above the clouds and snakes through fantastic landscapes as you cross ravines and scramble rock faces. The apex brings you to the knife-edge slopes of Volcan Fuego where you sit in the shadow of the angry mountain for lunch and some chill time before heading back. FITNESS: Please do not even think about this unless you are in damn good physical fitness at the time of your trip. We will not entertain porters or someone with experience and no fitness. This tour is the toughest DAY-TRIP we offer. It is a very long day with conditions that can change suddenly and place extra tax on the body. The total hike for the day is around 10 miles at high elevation.

SLEEP: BOOK a BED at our Base Camp for the night before so you can just roll out of bed at whatever awful hour in the morning (6am departure for overnight tour, 5am departure for day trips) and we store your bags in big burly lockers. :) Starting at $8. per night.

WATER: 4 liters minimum and snacks (chocolate bar, nuts, etc.) for 3 rest breaks.

GEAR: Have comfortable hiking clothing, preferred is non-cotton clothing. As you progress up the volcano, the weather is likely to change, with an increase in cold and wind. So we advise a wind-breaker jacket and fleece. Rain Gear is essential anytime of year. Sunscreen, sunglasses, baseball cap, non-cotton clothing, comfortable-capable shoes. Day-pack is perfect.

KNOW: Pre-Trip Meeting 5pm the night before your trip. (Sunday or Monday departures, Pre-Trip Meeting is at 1pm the day before your tour). All your questions answered and a chance to meet your guide and get the details of your trip so you can better be prepared. It will take only about 10 minutes. Be sure to bring remainder of payment if you have only left a trip deposit.
