All trips require a TRIP DEPOSIT. In order to reserve a place on one of our excursions, you must leave a TRIP DEPOSIT ($40.). The trip deposit secures your place for that tour on your specific tour date. This can easily be done online from the tour page on this website. You can pay cash in our office. Please note, if your tour is over $200. we require a $99. TRIP DEPOSIT. Remainder of payment should be paid before your tour leaves the OX office. TRANSFER: Your deposit can not be transferred to another person. However, we do allow a deposit to be transferred to another trip, one time only in such cases where a client is sick or misses their tour. We give you the opportunity to go on another trip. This transfer is given only one time. No exceptions. Contact us for more details.
If any client cancels a trip before 48 hours of your departure (example: The tour leaves at 6am, so cancellation must be made by 6am 2 days earlier) your full PAYMENT will be refunded. If less than 48 hours, OX will refund any monies above the trip deposit (OX retains the trip deposit). Once a tour is initiated (leaves the doors of OX) no refunds are offered for any reason and trips can not be cancelled.
If OX cancels a trip, all money is returned to you, including your trip deposit in the form by which you made payment.
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE! This is for a client’s safety and the safety of our groups. Please note, the word “Adventure” is very relative these days. We are not making reference to a bus tour or a cruise ship. Please use your own common sense when making the decision to participate in one of our tours. Our challenge level determinations (Easy, Moderate, Difficult, OX-Treme) are given as if from the perspective of the average fitness client from an age range of 18 to 35 years of age. If you do not fall into this range, please make appropriate variations in this challenge level determination personally. We are more than happy to help, please contact us and speak to a professional OX guide for more details.
In the case that a client can not continue on a tour for any reason and must turn back and return to Antigua, there will be a standard “Rescue Service” fee charged to the client for our driver and transport vehicle. For Acatenango the fee is $25.(Q200.) Additionally if more help is required such as a porter to lead the client back down the mountain while the guide and group continue up, there could also be an additional $15. (Q120) Fee. Both charges are to the client.
We offer a variety of ways to pay for your adventure trips here at OX. You can pay online in U.S. dollars via Pay Pal. Or you can pay in our Antigua Office where you have the options of U.S. Dollars, Quetzales, or Pay Pal. Our prices are in U.S. Dollars however we do accept GUA Quetzales currency in our office. We do not do a daily money conversion for exchange of dollars for Q. or vice versa. Our conversion rate is always Q8 to the $1. If you are dissatisfied with the exchange rate simply choose to pay in the other currency.
OX. has included more extras in your excursion than many other tour operators and in many cases, our prices are still less expensive than some of our competition. Things such as great gear, trained guides, security, paid entrance fees, warm clothing, etc. are just some of the reason OX trips are better. Our trips are priced fairly and run at western standard, the price is as marked, despite the culture of many developing countries around the world. Every price is not negotiable. Some exceptions include: MID-WEEK promotional trips, environmental clean-up trips at a discount.
If you have a group coming to Guatemala and would like OX to create an adventure package for you at a discount, please send us an email, let us know what you are interested in and we will create something special for you. Please specify dates of travel to Guatemala and how many are in your group. (10 or more in your group to qualify). If you are a repeat TOUR LEADER (G-Adventures, Intrepid, Tucan Tours, etc) please contact OX Management at email@example.com
If you are a film crew or television show or a group of vulcanologist seeking a professional yet unique guiding experience, we do have “fixer” services available and can make your trip happen. We have hosted several V.I.P. client groups and shows such as the WEATHER CHANNEL and HAMISH & ANDY. Contact us and explain your details and trip needs.
If you book several OX trips, you might be eligible for a 5%, 10% or 15% discount on your total trip package. Pre-booking is required and some trips are not applicable due to the fact OX may use other partner agencies for certain tours, or sections of tours where our prices are not flexible, but if you are a dedicated OX client, we would love to show our appreciation for your committed service to the OX cause.
We do appreciate your recommendation, and our office will pay a travel agent or hotel a standard referral commission. Please contact our office via email. We are a professional ADVENTURE guide operator. This means we are in the business of chaos management and calculated risk. We cannot control our environment, we take you into MOTHER NATURE, she will determine your experience. We have no control over the weather, volcanic eruptions or any other form of chaos, we can only prepare to handle these situations. This is why it is called an ADVENTURE. So please do not sign up for any of our tours if you cannot accept our limitations working with nature. The natural world is tough, this is simply the nature of the business. But if you are ready to truly live, then join us for something amazing. OX
