Oh Lordy, you’ve done it now! The Summit to Surf Tour is truly an amazing experience that some of your friends back home will not believe. The basic break-down; climb huge 13,0000ft Acatenango Volcano and camp there overnight, then make it all the way down to zero on the Pacific Ocean.

The Summit to Surf Adventure tour begins with a long day of hiking through the diverse temperate zones of Volcan Acatenango. At the end of the day we arrive and set up camp near the summit (13,044ft / 3976m). Take in an amazing sunset from on high. Have dinner and bed down in the tents. From the peak see the most amazing sunrise of your life then move to break camp and head down the mountain. After transport back to Antigua where you unpack and rest at our Base Camp Hostel.

The next morning have a hardy breakfast at Base Camp then jump in a shuttle for the two hour drive to the beach some 5,000ft / 1500m below Antigua. Finally arriving at the Pacific Ocean you have many options, you can swing in a hammock or relax in the swimming pool or continue the adventure and rent a surfboard and plunge into the mighty Pacific waves.

DAY 1

7 AM – 7.30 AM: Meet at OX and packing

We make sure everyone has what they need and it is all properly packed.

7.30 AM – 8.00 AM: Breakfast and coffee

Warm up with a breakfast sandwich and coffee.

8.00 AM – 9.00 AM: Transport from Antigua to the volcano

We take the private shuttle to La Soledad which is our starting point for the hike.

9:00 AM – 1.00 PM: Hiking

Not every group and not everyday is the same, our itinerary is based on an average timing of our hikes, but everything will depend on the size of the group, level of fitness, and weather. During the hike you will pass through four different zones; farmland, cloud forest, alpine tree forest, and volcanic.

1.00 PM – 1.30 PM: Lunch

Time to eat your delicious sandwich!

1.30 PM – 2.30 PM: Hike to campsite

Traverse around this beautiful volcano to arrive at the campsite

2.30 PM – 4.00 PM: Relax

Get some well earned restwith some great views of Volcan Fuego (weather permitting)

4.00 PM – 7.00 PM: Fuego

This is the famous Double Whammy, you can upgrade your tour at the campsite if you haven’t prebooked it.

8.00 PM: Dinner

Enjoy our great pasta with homemade tomate sauce and wash it down with a glass of wine.

DAY 2

1

4 AM – 5.30 AM: Hike to the summit

An early start to ensure we get up to the summit for an unforgettable sunrise!

5.30 AM – 6.00 AM: Enjoy the views

The time spent at the summit will depend on the weather conditions, it can get pretty cold and windy up here at times

6.00 AM – 8.00 AM: Hike back down to base camp and breakfast

A quick hike back down to our base camp where we will have some hot coffee and breakfast.

8.00 AM – 10.30/11.00 AM: Hike back down

It’s time to leave this beautiful volcano and hike back down.

11.00 AM – 12.00 AM: Transport back to Antigua

This is an ideal time to share contact info with your new friends or to get a quick nap!

Rest of the day

Unpack your gear, get a shower and some food and take the rest of the day to relax in our guest house

DAY 3

1

9.30 AM – 11.30 AM: Transport to the beach

Take the shuttle down to the beach (Monterrico)

11.30 AM – 12.00 PM: Check in

Check into your hostel/hotel

Rest of the day

You can swing in a hammock or relax in the swimming pool or continue the adventure and rent a surfboard and plunge it into the mighty Pacific waves.
