The Fuego Volcano in Guatemala is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It is situated about 16km away from our offices in Antigua, Guatemala. The Fuego Volcano has been erupting since the 16th century with the last major eruption on June 3rd 2018. Click here for a more detailed account of the eruption. Since then Volcan Fuego has continued to be active, but to a lesser extent, with small eruptions several times a day.
Here at OX Expeditions we run the Fuego Volcano Day Trip. You can also hike it as part of the OX-Treme Double Whammy Tour (where you hike both Acatenango and Fuego volcanoes). Please note these are some of the most difficult tours we run and you should only attempt them if you are in very good physical condition.
Rest assured the safety of our clients is our No.1 priority and we are in constant contact with the local authorities about Fuego Volcano’s activity. We take you as close as is safely possible. This normally means heading up onto the shoulder where you get an amazing view!
